We’ve found that the most successful way to get started is to meet in person at our Home Expressions Selection Center so we can get to know each other. (An appointment isn’t necessary but if we schedule one we can be sure to have dedicated time for your project.) A Home Expressions Designer will guide you on an inspiring personal tour of the materials, surfaces and design styles in our 9,000 sq. ft. Selection Center. We then schedule an in-home consultation to see your space and get a thorough understanding of how you want to express yourself in your home.

In order to clearly define “minimal” it’s best for us to see your home in person. In general, Home Expressions projects can include the removal of a non-load-bearing interior wall. Any structural changes that require architectural expertise are best suited for the Jackson Design and Remodeling team. We can help you accomplish your dreams for your home, either with our Home Expressions team or our Jackson Design and Remodeling team.

When you start working with a Home Expressions Designer, we ask for a small design retainer that gets applied to your total project cost so that we can consult in-depth with you and develop a design based on our mutual understanding of your vision for your home. There are no further fees until construction starts on your project. We do not require pre-deposits on cabinetry or any other materials or elements supplied by Home Expressions. Once construction commences, we schedule your payments out during the course of the job. A typical project includes 6-12 overall payments from start to finish.

The permit needs of a project depend upon the scope of work and where your home is located. The Home Expressions team is well versed in the detailed requirements of multiple municipalities throughout San Diego County. Our team will do the research for you and manage the entire permitting process thoroughly and seamlessly.

As a Home Expressions client, your first point of contact is with one of our expert Designers who will help you explore your options and discover a vision for your home. Once construction commences, you will work with a dedicated Project Manager who will be available to you throughout your project for questions and updates. From “Day One” until your project is completed, Home Expressions will update you on a weekly basis with a detailed report of your project’s progress via our proprietary Enterprise Resource Planning system. Our revolutionary system takes the mystery out of what’s going to happen next on your project by sending you a weekly “dashboard” with an overview of your schedule and project details.

All of the tradespeople who work with Home Expressions, whether employees or sub contactors, are carefully vetted and meet our stringent requirements for experience, licensing and insurance. We have long-established policies and procedures to maintain effective relationships with our Trade Partners. These relationships support the efforts of our company and our subcontractors’ companies to deliver materials and manpower on time and with a level of quality that leads to outstanding client satisfaction.

Our regular work hours are Monday through Friday. If a special circumstance requires weekend work, we schedule our staff as necessary.

As a design build firm, we believe that our comprehensive approach, which encompasses both design and construction all under one company’s direction, is the most effective way to translate your vision for your home into reality.
